*摘 要:The structures of online social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, are the essential social playgrounds where user interactions lead to the generation and diffusion of information. Social interactions and the dissemination of various information contents (e.g. news, opinions, and images) provide an unprecedented amount of data for researchers to investigate humanity and invent novel applications. In this talk, I will present our recent advances on mining, predicting, and applying social interactions and information diffusion. Specifically, the talk consists of four aspects that can answer the following questions. (1) Given a social activity propagated in a network, can we predict which users will participate in that activity in the future? (2) While a manager is organizing a team to execute a specific project, is it possible to recommend the set of effective team members based on social networks? (3) How to exploit social graphs for identifying the redundant workers of Crowdsourcing translation in the labor force platform Amazon Mechanical Turk? (4) Assume Starbucks is seeking for new places to expand business, can we recommend Starbucks some candidate locations that can attract more customers? In the end of this talk, I will also highlight some potential research directions in mining massive social network datasets.
