In this talk, I will use the electronics design automation as an example of the application using combinatorial optimization. The flow of IC design will be briefed and how the mathematics can be applied in the design tools will be discussed. The worldwide semiconductor industry and the Science Park in Hsinchu will also be briefly introduced.
